Abstract
During the nineteenth-century Indian Renaissance, intellectuals realized that studying through the mother language was the only way to construct a forward-thinking, superstition-free Indian society. Rajnarayan Basu is the pioneer among them. According to him, the primary stimulant for a nation’s self-awakening is the awareness of its homeland’s magnificence, history, language, and so forth. To boost the nation’s pride, he penned Bāṅgālā Bhāṣā O Sāhitya Biṣayak(a) Baktṛtā. The historical narrative of Bengali literature is documented in his speech and shows the superiority of the Bengali language, compared to other foreign languages. This discussion aims to evaluate Rajnarayan Basu’s significance and shed light on his contribution to developing Bengali literature and language in its present state.References
